Good picture! Quite the crowd-pleaser so I do understand the overwhelmingly positive reception but it’s definitely over-blown. There is a lot of good and even a little great here though. Beautiful animation, art direction and colour palette brought to the environment as a whole. I think I’m in agreement with the sentiment on the switch up in the narrative wishing it stuck to its guns of what it’s rendering thematically but it’s it’s not the most blasphemous thing in the world because it does the convention well overall. Voice actors did a bang up job! Lupita the stand out for me probably. It’s not cutting-edge stuff conceptually but the themes and story make it an endearing and enjoyable enough watch.
