The opening scene evokes a feeling of resistance and question. Who are the good guys? Who should I be rooting for in this gun battle? They are both just slaughtering women and children with seemingly no regard and later no punishment? Then the ending I have adapting and the violence is cathartic. I laugh. I feel less tension. I'm not sure why but I could see how Tarantino was inspired by this and his films have a similar catharsis.
