This film was not at all what I expected, it left me kind of disappointed with its ending, it felt a little lackluster (which I won't spoil so chill out bro). But I enjoyed it altogether.
The cinematography is amazing in this film. Shot in 4:3 and in black and white, with incredible long takes and beautiful shots, this sure is one of the best shot and best looking films I have ever seen.
I love the set. Its so small that within 30 minutes if watching the film you can already picture the rock and everything on it, so you always have an understanding of where Dafoe and Pattinson are. It looks incredible and so authentic.
Pattinson is great in this film... Every movie he stars in, he gets better. But the person who steals the show is Dafoe, who has to play an old seafarer. The accent he has to pull is amazing and he has some amazing scenes of dialogue(you don't like me cookin?) which felt like an honor to watch. Just incredible.

I would say that I expected a bit more from this film. I went in thinking there would be a huge mystery, at least the trailers suggested that, but there wasn't too much in the way of that, I'm not going to spoil the ending but if you watch the film you'll see what I mean.
Truly one of the best acted and most aesthetically pleasing and beautifully shot films I have ever seen.
