Excellent horror craft, incredibly inspiring and mesmerizing to me, as someone who makes horror films. And omg, the acting is fantastic. Maika Monroe and Nicolas Cage do not disappoint. However, all I’ve heard was this was the scariest movie basically ever and it was just fine. Don’t get me wrong, it was creepy! Definitely had me tense! But I don’t think it’s going to give the nightmares I’m craving. Maybe I’ve seen too many horror movies at this point, though I thought The Blackcoat’s Daughter was more frightening. Regardless, a little bit underwhelmed but I’ll know for sure exactly how I feel tomorrow morning. Maybe this one will grow on me.
Update: I slept like a baby and didn’t have nightmares 😔 Movie still rocks though.
