I wasn't sure what to expect from this plot-wise, and that was just fine because plot is fucking fake but as it turns out the plot manages to stay completely unhinged and unpredictable the whole way through while also being pretty succinct. It has a very clear cause and effect driven narrative and honestly every second literally slays. Jordan Peele has an excellent sense of humor for horror.
I felt similarly about Zola last summer; I simply will not entertain any criticism of this movie because I sincerely believe it was perfectly executed to the best version that the story required. It nails what it sets out to do. It is the best version of itself. The only critique I have is for the industry responsible for every other movie that comes out this summer that isn't as good as this one. Level the fuck up, Hollywood! Give the artists money and let them do their jobs. As much as I loved this, I think there's still better out there in terms of big budget auteur filmmaking and we're missing it. However, Jordan Peele sets a high bar that makes me feel hopeful for the lifting up of more originality in the future.
