This is a bad movie with some emotional resonance. There's like zero craft to the storytelling here. Things seem to happen for literally no reason. I am realizing more and more that true stories spun as narrative really don't work! It didn't work for me when I tried to write the next great American novel about bulimia and it doesn't work here either. The self-deprecating humor is good for the first two jokes but after that becomes grating. I honestly think this would have been great as an MTV MADE ep. Or even a doc. And I say that with so much respect. If it's true why not spin the truth to entertain us?
