Not many movies this year have made me actually FEEL something, actually get invested. Well, La La Land did. Now, look, I'll get the flaws outta the way: I don't think the musical numbers (as magical as they are) add very much to the plot, and I also think the ending could have been perfected a little more. Plus, Stone and Gosling, while they're great in the film, do have weaker voices in the grand scheme of things.
...But all that said, I adored the movie. The romance is magical, and they have wonderful chemistry. The cinematography (though gimmicky at times) is gorgeous. The performances are great, and you actually CARE about the characters (an impressive feat these days).
Bravo Damien Chazelle. I've loved everything you've worked on thus far.
