This movie was fantastic. The musical aspect and visual design were some of the best I’ve ever seen. However, I felt like the singing from the main duo was kind of weak in comparison to actual professional singers but I guess it was serviceable enough. I think the chemistry was great but their relationship was kinda bland. I know! Make it make sense! It’s just that... the romantic story they go through is the same one we’ve seen thousands of times before, just restructured and repolished in a different way. But for some reason, it still works and it does wonders.
One of Ryan Gosling’s more weaker performances but I believe Emma Stone was the highlight of the film as I thought she did really good in this one. But here comes the saving grace; The musical numbers. Alongside the life blooming colors to the jaw dropping visuals, The musical performances were definitely top tier.
I don’t really have much of a problem with the pacing and the writing, if there was any at all, both of these aspects were great. The choreography and the soundtrack were phenomenal and who can ever dislike City of Stars!
