What a film man. Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone deliver just absolutely exceptional performances. Their chemistry in this movie is just absolute perfection. Also, earlier I used to think musicals might not be my thing but I think this movie changes that. I really liked that apart from maybe one or two scenes, the musical sequences weren't necessarily that grand where literally the entire cast of characters starts singing but only have Mia and Seb in them. They feel very intimate and really help in developing their relationship. They also have a very comforting and calming vibe. Especially the Griffith observatory scene, that was my absolute favourite scene, just so beautiful.
The music is really good and the musical scenes themselves are extremely well directed. They're shot really well and the color grading in this movie is just absolute perfection. And also, Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone are pretty excellent singers. It's just a very stunning looking movie. And that absolute gut punch of an ending. They got what they wanted but didn't quite have the fairy tale ending. But they wouldn't have gotten where they ended up without each other's support. So kind of a bittersweet ending.
