Dallas Majestic Theatre
Broadway Sinfonietta Orchestra
Guys, I just peaked. Holy freaking frijoles, I am elated to share that I just watched Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse, one of my favorite films of all time, with a live orchestra playing the score in a massive, packed theater. Easily one of the best film experiences I’ve ever had. Shoutout to the awesome conductor and her piano solos, the drummer, the lady who clicked the pen, DJ Damage and the one cellist who kept switching between the Cello and the electric guitar.
I saw Into The Spider-Verse twice in theaters when it first came out back in winter 2018, and though I’ve seen it plenty of times since then, seeing it in a theater again brought back so much nostalgia and memories to the absolute shock I had seeing it for the first time and seeing how amazing it was. I’m gonna go ahead and backtrack what I said in my most recent review of the sequel and say that no, Into is better than Across, though they are both absolute peak cinema. Into just has the coming-of-age and origin story feeling with it that makes it feel so, so powerful. Across a has cooler and more epic scale and story, but Into still retains a stronger emotional pull that is something to behold. Seeing it with over a thousand other people, laughing at the funny parts and clapping at the amazing parts, was an unforgettable experience. And the orchestra was made up entirely of women of color, so that was awesome too. They did an amazing job, and after an 8-minute musical finale as the credits rolled, everyone in the house rose for a standing ovation. An absolutely perfect way to experience an absolutely perfect film and score that have been a major part of my life for 5 years now.
And everyone clapped when Miles threw the bagel lol
