Perfect mind blowing animation-aesthetic that goes with a “not so wild” story. The Wild Robot would be a much better movie perhaps even a masterpiece had it be a non-dialogue movie.
The bits where the movie works best for me story wise is strangely all the scenes without Brightbill. It makes sense that a main supporting character is needed for Roz to demonstrates her humanity, but I find her arc to be way too safe, predictable and uninteresting.
The parts when she’s discovering the habitats of the forrest, showcasing her robotic powers and how she learns to cope with all the animals, even to the scene where she actively saves all of them are the most interesting bits for me.
Overall I think Wild Robot would earn some tears for the sentimental few and be remembered of its stellar animation. Story wise, it definitely need some more work for it to be considered a masterpiece.
