This was a trans, musical, thriller and crime movie. This was all over the place and I didn’t expect any of it, i did also go in completely blind. That being said, I do think Karla Sofía Gascón did amazing for what she is given. I think it would have been better solely focusing on only her trans story. I feel like the movie didn’t really even touch on being trans at all. It does it so poorly and actually feels like they are tiptoeing around the subject of being trans. It’s like before and then after, nothing else and that feels so wrong. There was no tackle on dealing with her identity or even her past.
The plot had so much potential but failed to bring anything more to our story and characters. The musical numbers were good at times but I didn’t feel any emotion for them. And the acting at times was emotionless. This was a chaotic underwritten movie that moved from theme to theme and didn’t work in the slightest.
Looking for a good trans story, I saw the tv glow was phenomenal.
