they were finally showing this movie in theaters, so you know i had to quickly run to see it!!
in the beginning, the statue has one body with two heads infused together. it represents the blend of two separate people taking two opposite directions in their lives but still being connected within. this is what Miguel and Julio, two best friends, indeed are. we have one who disappeared one day when his biggest fear was old age and another who was unable to complete his projects in life and lives with regret as time fades away. my takeaway? to live a life with regret is one that i do not wish to be a part of. when you're young, you feel like you have all the time in the world. that you can wait for things to come around, but time truly works fast, and before you know it? years have passed, and nothing has progressed. living a life without regrets is challenging, but this film shows the importance of doing what you love, being with the person you love, and simply living your life the way you want. it is the director's, Víctor Erice, epic film that he finally completed as you see many parts similar to his life. it was close to 180 minutes, but I'll be damned.. that was the top three of my favorite screenplays. i hope to read it all very soon. crossing my fingers that they make a printed version of it.
