"In times of crisis the wise build bridges, while the foolish build barriers."
The cast is amazing, loved them all. I liked everything about the culture of Wakanda, from the city design and the costumes to their history and mythology. This is by far the most interesting and fascinating thing about the movie. I also like the message that the story carries in it's heart. Great stuff, and relevant. And then they go out to find a weapons dealer and there are car chases and shootouts and James Bond stuff (although this version of Q is really really cute). I don't know why it bothered me so much. It's not that the action is not good, because Coogler is more than capable of delivering the goods. But most of the time it felt like a distraction. And in certain parts I could clearly see the studio's check boxes. I guess I'm disappointed because this one had the chance to be something different and special and unique. And in many ways it is. But it's also a collection of things i've seen a million times before. And it really didn't need to.
