Italian cinema has a certain je ne sais quoi that makes it so enchanting to watch, and when you get to experience it through the eyes and mind of Alice Rohrwacher this feeling is ever more potent.
La Chimera follows the spiritual journey of Arthur, an Englishman with a peculiar hability for finding hidden treasures that were buried long ago in the Italian soil.
Ironically, for all that Arthur manages to find lost treasures he seems incapable of finding himself or his life’s purpose, floating adrift from one situation to the other hoping to reunite with the one person who kept him tethered to this Earth but who is perpetually out of reach.
The story of La Chimera seems straight out of a greek epic of old, and with Josh O’Connor as our brilliant doomed hero it was always destined to shine.
