AllyW23✝️’s review published on Letterboxd:
Hello! I thought I would introduce myself since I haven't done that yet with this new account.
I used to have another account on here (Autumn97), but deleted it when I thought I would be taking an extended break from regularly commenting on films (new job, etc.). Now, I'm ready to start back, because I have a decent number of movies I want to see, and this helps me keep track of everything a bit better. Plus, I missed chatting with friends on here about film in general.
I review all genres, but I do have a thing for more classic slasher franchises (Ex. Halloween, Scream). I love movies from each main genre that you can think of, but I also have movies I dislike from each main genre as well.
If I have only logged a film and not reviewed it or rated it, it means I've seen it, but either didn't rate it because I didn't care about it, or because I have mixed feelings on the film today and am unsure about it.
I am currently working my way through my main Letterboxd watchlist (whatever is on there are the only movies I know I haven't seen that I might be interested in), as well as my Fall/Halloween watchlist that you can find in the "List" category of my profile. Usually, I try to watch a ton of movies each year for the season (slashers, Hocus Pocus, universal monster films for each main universal monster, etc.), and you will find all of the ones I have seen logged on my account, however, as much as I love so many different horror films, I have selected a very specific Fall/Halloween watchlist this year that only contains a mix of films I have to watch each year, mixed with a couple I've only seen once or twice and want to remember better (Ex. The Lost Boys). But yes, I love Dracula, Frankenstein, The Wolf Man/Werewolf content, Sleepy Hollow, all of that good stuff. I just don't have the time right now to get them all watched this year, but I've seen them multiple times and they are staples for the season!
On top of those two watchlists that I have right now, I'm also making my way currently through the Alien franchise for the first time, and soon to follow will be the Predator franchise. I had only ever seen the first film in each franchise and "Prey" before I started watching them this week to prepare for Alien:Romulus. I am enjoying the Alien franchise, but Resurrection bothered me and I felt the need to take a break from it for a minute, so instead of finishing the franchise and seeing Romulus in theaters today, I'm going to see Trap instead, and then get back to the Alien franchise soon after that.
You will find soon that I'm going to log/review the original Fright Night. It's the first movie off of my Fall/Halloween 2024 watchlist. I've seen it, the second one, and the remake a few times before in the past, but wanted to watch this one again for this season.
I do love horror films, and have seen many many of them, but there are some franchises that I just won't watch because I know I won't have any interest in them (Ex. Saw, The Purge, Happy Death Day, etc.). You'll be able to tell which ones I love more than others. I'm not a big Child's Play/Chucky fan for example, because I don't find him creepy and gain nothing from the majority of those movies. I'm also not big on Insidious (I just have never liked the characters or storyline that much). If you notice I've logged a whole franchise, but not the newest film within in, it means I watched them all for Letterboxd with my old account, but didn't care for the franchise enough to watch the newest film when it came out, or to continue watching new movies put out within the franchise.
If you ever have any questions, feel free to drop comments. I love hearing from you all and exchanging thoughts on one of our favorite things to do: watch movies! I hope you all have a wonderful week and a great spooky watch season!! I'm so excited for Fall 🍂🍁🧡
Keep in touch!
Thanks, AllyW23
