I loved it! You either love it or hate it and I truly loved this beautiful mess. This film is strongly divided into 3 stages.
In the first one we are introduced to the main characters, Gina and James. We learn about them, Gina mostly, how she lives and how she "sees" the world around. Outstanding cinematography, her version of a vision is incredibly done! This stage of their relationship is sweet and gentle. You feel the tenderness of their love. The second stage is the operation and the aftermath of it. Gina slowly becomes truly herself. She changes her style of clothing, her behavior towards James. She can finally let go her past. She discovers new things, and learns how to do things without James, which makes him scared of loosing her. Destruction of their relationship begins. The third stage is the craziest one and my favorite one. Gina realizes that James is not the man she fell in love with. The fear of losing her made him a monster. He does terrible things. She does a messed up thing, too. The way they handled those things, that they learned they did to each other, is insane. The third act is incredibly crafted. It's so heartbreaking. It made me so angry and sad.
This film is not for everyone. I understand why people are not into in, which makes me a little bit sad because I loved this stunning confusion of a film! Am I rating it toо high? Maybe, but I want to rewatch it already to fully establish my rating.
