History is my addiction, my obsession and my passion. I’ve been fascinated by the subject since I was a child. I have had a specific love for the history of the Second World War for many years mainly because two of my great uncles have served during the war and one did not come back.

Everything about the subject interests me, and of course the development of the atomic bomb is one of them, which is the subject of Christopher Nolan’s latest achievement. The development of the atomic bomb ended the Second World War, and gave birth to the nuclear age, and essentially started an arms race between two superpowers. Nolan is easily the finest filmmaker in the thirty years, his films are experiences, and Oppenheimer is something that can be described in one word a masterwork. Just when you thought Nolan topped himself with Dunkirk, he upped the stakes with this film.

The story of J Robert Oppenheimer is one of history’s greatest stories. He was the father of the Atomic Bomb, the man who said I, I have become death, destroyer of worlds. Capturing such a story could only have been achieved by Christopher Nolan, and this film is easily his finest film yet, eclipsing Dunkirk, which for me means something else because I never thought he could top that film. This film is brilliantly acted, crafted and directed, Cillian Murphy is a tremendous talent who finally gets his due here, and although he has made several films with Christopher Nolan before, I like to think he got the lead role in this film because of the movie Anthropoid because before this film that was his finest performance. I say that because in Anthropoid he proved he very much could carry a film on his own,, sure he did that with 28 Days Later, but since then he has matured as an actor, and here he definitely delivered his most incredible awe inspiring and career defining performance yet.

Oppenheimer is easily the finest film of the year and the best Christopher Nolan film yet. Now with that being said, after I said the same thing about Dunkirk, and now with this film, we can only ask ourselves how will Christopher Nolan Top himself now? This was a flawless film, a must see for history fans and those that are fascinated with the subject, Oppenheimer is a must see brilliant film, and the tone and vibe of the film is melancholic and nightmarish and it adds to the experience.

Oppenheimer is a fine picture that you won’t soon forget. Cillian Murphy delivers a riveting, enthralling performance that will be easily regarded as his finest performance yet, he very much deserves Accolades and an Oscar nomination with this film, and with that being said, I look forward to what he will do next, and in regards to Christopher Nolan, I am very much looking forward to seeing how he will achieve the daunting task in crafting his next picture. An unforgettable experience and the finest film of the year.
