there's just something about this movie that warrants serious reviews from even the least serious of reviewers, and perhaps that's one of the things i love most about call me by your name - it is such a tender and honest and immersive experience of a film that we all walk out of the theatre thinking, this is it. this is why we watch movies or read books or look at paintings or listen to music or travel places or love people even if it seems all for naught most times; it's to feel even just a sliver of what oliver and elio had for those short weeks. and goddamn did i feel it - i felt everything.
mr. aciman, mr. guadagnino, mr. chalamet, mr. hammer, mr. stuhlbarg, mr. ivory, mr. stevens - borrowing the words of the author that got me into reading in the first place, it was truly a privilege to have my heart broken by all of you.
