I want to thank everyone that has supported my reviews and podcasts. The community around Letterboxd is amazing. It’s been super cool to see how people’s opinions converge or diverge with mine, and I love the back and forth in the comments. Even when I disagree I love the back and forth!

I grew up going to the movies every week without fail. This is how I wound up seeing something like King Ralph in the theaters four times. Film has been there for me my whole life. So I feel grateful that I get to hammer out these short reviews (smart ass comments half of the time), talk for one to two hours about a movie twice a week, and have a career that exists solely because I do the first two sections of this sentence.

The second season of Fields of Glory, my sports movie podcast / radio show, starts coming out today. Aaron Donaldson and myself have worked very hard on it, and I’m extremely proud of the first eleven episodes we’ve put together ahead of release. We were able to interview Viridiana Lieberman who directed Born To Play, edited stuff for Disney and ESPN like 30 for 30, as well as a documentary for HBO called I Am Evidence. She also wrote a book on film criticism called Sports Heroines on Film: A Critical Study of Cinematic Women Athletes, Coaches and Owners. She was a pleasure, and extremely generous with her time (we booked her for forty-five minutes and she gave us ninety).

My second bit of business has to do with my other movie podcast, A Cosmic Void. If you haven’t heard the show, we typically deconstruct the plot of a movie, contextualize the time and place it came out, and break down the metaphors. I’m recording Patreon content with my co-host as I’m posting a mini-series on disastrous movies that I recorded with a cinematographer and actress last summer. When we return, I would like to do some movies that the listeners choose. But no-one really engages with polls or questions on Spotify. So I turn to all of you: please make suggestions of movies for the show. It must have a discernible plot to be eligible (I did Gummo once, never again). And don’t suggest something that’s already on my list (Seriously, I did Gummo already).

I love you all in a non creepy way. Thank you in advance for suggestions! And I watched one minute of Paint Drying because I want to have integrity when my account tells how many movies I watched this year (the number’s actually larger, I only log a movie once (maybe I’ll make an exception for Paint Drying (why am I using so many parenthesis (that’s like four parenthesis stacked inside each other like a russian doll)))).
