Stanley Kubrick was, is and will remain unique.
I don't know any director who just shows a black image accompanied by music at the beginning of the film for several minutes, but you don't find it annoying if you understand why.
Kubrick dared to do a lot that hardly any filmmakers dare to do today. He really internalized the principle of film and shows us images. As crude as it may sound, that's how it is. There is hardly any speaking, especially at the beginning and end, instead we are shown unforgettable images that move the story forward on their own.
You know the fantastic music, even if you've never seen "2001: A Space Odyssey". It has cult status and that for eternity.
This film is now 56 years old and works as if it were only a few years young."2001: A Space Odyssey" is still the best science fiction film of all time.
Stabley Kubrick, like his films, remains unforgettable.
