Oh god, y'all are gonna kill me. So I didn't love Oppenheimer but I can confidently say I think this will grow on me with more watches. It's no secret that Christopher Nolan does a fantastic job here. It's also no secret that this cast is phenomenal. Cillian Murphy is phenomenal in this movie as he navigates the demons that Oppenheimer faces. The visuals are stunning. The cinematography is beautiful. The score is one of my favorite parts as well. Robert Downey Jr is going to get that best supporting actor role, no doubt about it. Where this movie doesn't really work for me is the way it's told. I just don't care for jumping all around, back and forth between past and present, to the trial, to the interrogation, and back to the creation of the bomb. It's just making my head spin thinking about it. Also, I know Nolan needs these massive runtimes to tell his stories but this one in particular I don't feel needed to be 3 hours. There's parts where I found myself thinking that it needed to get moving and for some parts it never did. I think upon rewatch I'll appreciate it a lot more knowing where all the pieces of the puzzle fit into but for now it's a movie I did like but didn't blow my mind.
