the slasher meets melodrama in a technicolor crazed horror-flick that could not have been more tailor made for me. from the moment that ti west mentioned drawing inspiration from douglas sirk, i've expected nothing less leading up to pearl. bright colors to contrast the dark origin story being told, and a grand score that brings it all together.
mia goth running with everything being thrown her way once again.
landing the overly dramatic lines that you can't help but chuckle at during all the madness (and that the internet has been having all kinds of fun with).

along with numerous emotionally twisted moments, most notably a monologue that will forever stand the test of time (and that'd make for one hell of an oscars clip if the academy actually recognized performances in this genre).
truth is i'm really not a good person...
it's a performance SO good from goth that west couldn't help but keep it rolling into an unforgettable end credits scene. these two have given horror the fresh franchise that it's been needing with, luckily for us, more still to come from maXXXine.
