My family had seen every Best Picture nominee other than this, Maestro, and Zone of Interest and they wanted to see this one the most before the Oscars.
My mom audibly enjoyed it and laughed throughout. This works really well on rewatch because all the jokes are so well written that they still hit, and all the rest of it just gets better. I just love how much the sincerity and realism of the family dynamics catches you off guard.
Great cast, great script. I wouldn’t personally vote for it to win adapted screenplay but I’ll put my Oppensweep flag down for a minute to be happy for Cord Jefferson.
