Not outwardly scary at all, which after the marketing does seem to be people’s main issue with this. I’ve always preferred horror movies that fill you up with dread and stick with you, which this has. Cinematography blew me away. Nic cage and Maika Monroe were perfect and plenty of Cure (1997) vibes.
