The one good thing Covid has done? A lot of theaters are playing older movies, and sometimes you strike gold. Today was a gold striking day.
For the third time I got to experience this comic book masterpiece in the theater, and it was just as fun, exuberant, colorful and creative as the very first time I saw it.
Spiderverse very well may be the best Spider-Man movie. Raimi’s 2 will always be my favorite, but you’d be hard pressed to find a Spidey movie better than this. The action is a comic delight. The characters and voice acting are easily the best within the genre. The animation is god tier and not only adds to the medium as a whole, but basically transformers how we view both superhero movies and animated movies alike.
Not forgetting, this movie is still bust-a-gut hysterical. It’s been a while since I’ve seen this, but it still cracks me up just as hard, if not harder now than when I first saw it. And the visual comedy, seriously, name an animated movie that has done better, I’ll wait.
An unrivaled cinematic dream. Few movies fill me with such delight, and fewer still stay as fresh and fun as Into The Spiderverse.
