This is a cinematic experience that has to be seen on the biggest screen Dolby. As such I'm really curious how the experience will be at home without the sound that shakes the seats. i would say there were 4 standout out performances in this with Cillian Murphy, Robert Downy Jr., Emily Blunt and Florence Pugh.
I also want to talk about the nudity scenes just because of how artistically down they were and how they told a story. There are 2 nude scenes in this one that is the more seductive flirty between Oppenheimer and Jean Tatlock, then a second that is a lot more uncomfortable showing the disgrace that is their relationship at that point and the disgust that his wife had with the thought of their final encounter.
The sound in this is also great especially with the contrast to the dream sequences/thought within Oppenheimer's head.
So this story tells 2 stories in it one with Oppenheimer's trial as a suspected communist and the other about the Manhattan Project, which the later is told within the trial of Oppenheimer. This is the reason it was so long, which leads to the question would it have been better if it focused on just the Manhattan project and the aftermath affects it had on Oppenheimer given it more of an emotional punch? Perhaps, it would of, but this movie isn't meant to be emotional just to tell the story of Oppenheimer getting into nuclear physics, him getting into the Manhattan projects, and the thoughts around him being communist during the time of McCarthyism. The positive of this does make what would have been a real depressing movie into a much more bearable story.
