ive never fallen in love with a movie like this one
i remember seeing it in theatres 2 years ago and it was stuck in my head for days. i wouldnt say its something ive never seen before writing wise, i say this with no disrespect, it does follow your typical action movie formula and is has a lot of tonal/humor similarities to lord and millers other projects. but GOOD GOD MAN THE WAY THIS FUCKING MOVIE LOOKS HOLY SHIT.
this movie is meant to be seen on the biggest screen possible. it oozes style. taking a lot of influence from anime, graffiti, and hip hop culture in general. it puts an entirely new spin on the 60's comic book aesthetic. in an art sense, yea this is shit weve never seen before and it shows how 3DCG animated movies are still in their infancy and there is SO much we can do in this medium that isnt Frozen or Shrek
i fuckin bought the art book. i bought the blu ray even though this shit was on netflix. (not anymore lol) it was one of the only movies i saw twice in its theatrical run. i almost went and saw it a third time.
i truly believe this is the movie that will change animation and we can start seeing less disney/pixar type shit in theatres and more films that are actually aimed torwards teens and adults (in the mainstream at least)
i think this movie is the closest well get to a modern yellow submarine. watch it high as balls like i did the other night or sober, either way its a fucking masterpiece.
