The Lighthouse will be a film I have to see multiple times. Robert Eggers once again made a totally immersive sensory and cerebral experience. What’s it about? Well, you could just easily say it’s a movie about two guys losing their minds. Or you could say it’s about repressed trauma, guilt and sexuality. Or maybe it was an allegory of a Greek Myth which didn’t even occur to me until the very last scene. It could be about something which I haven’t even thought of. All I’ll say is that I didn’t want it to end. I couldn’t get enough of the scenery, the score, the performances, the isolated feeling, and the surreal visuals. I live for this shit.
