fucking masterpiece— I struggle to even find the words to say on how much of a miracle this movie is— I’ve always loved this movie, ever since I first saw it in theaters after seeing it on a total whim, but it can’t help but feel like I didn’t really appreciate everything it does until now— George Miller completely reinventing the action blockbuster by both stripping it down to its barest of essential parts and then reconstructing it into the most explosively well-oiled machine imaginable— understanding better than basically everybody that the most primal joys found in shit blowing up on-screen is just the quickest avenue to ultimate sincerity— soaring hand-in-hand with camp and melodrama alongside feminist and environmentalist themes that have all only gotten better and better with age— the fact that this didn’t influence the entire landscape of action cinema following is a fucking travesty— a two hour long chase sequence, an almost-silent epic, a movie that probably shouldn’t work in any way but instead ends up being one of the best blockbusters ever— I can’t fucking wait to see FURIOSA
