Sure it has issues, but Black Panther is a delightful fun film to add to the MCU. The afro-futurism was a great look for the film, and I do hope they explore those areas more in Infinity War and further sequels. Chadwick is really likable in his role as Black Panther, and provides a lot of what makes the film so engaging. In a lot of these MCU films actors are very good at handling the comedic elements, but the same can not be said with the dramatic moments of the films. That is not the case here, the entire cast blends in the drama quite well as the motives all make a lot of sense. This is a small thing that I didn't even notice but Daniel Kaluuya states at the beginning his parents were killed by Klaue, and that little detail I had completely forgotten about the first act added an extra layer to what otherwise would have been a bit confusing. Even little stuff like the weapons the characters choose telling a lot about their character. There are certainly flaws to the film, the villains plan seems a little too quick to happen (personally I would have ended it with Jordan as the leader of Wakanda but oh well), the film kills off the two best characters, Martin Freeman is given far too much screen time, and the What are Those joke is quite eye rolly. But with that said I do think that Coogler will only improve upon this film if he directs the second film, and he was definitely the perfect choice here. Also I said this last time, but Winston Duke has a ton of charisma, especially for a first time film performance. Can't wait to see M'Baku in Infinity War.
