First half had me believing I was witnessing a classic—a modern day Silence of the Lambs as the marketing put it. The buildup was great, the mystery was compelling, the little snippets we got of Longlegs were creepy and cool, and I loved Maika Monroe’s character. Unfortunately, the movie lost me in the third act. The fantastic atmosphere that was built throughout totally vanished as the final act relied too heavily on exposition, and the lack of character development was disappointing. Without spoiling anything, I just straight up did not like the direction it went in.
