Matthias Corvinus (Hungarice Hunyadi Mátyás, Dacoromanice Matia Corvin vel saepius Matei Corvin[1]) (natus Claudiopoli Transylvaniae die 23 Februarii 1443; mortuus Vindobonae die 26 Aprilis 1490) fuit rex Hungaricus et simul Croaticus, et 1469–1490 usurpatorius Bohemiae rex. Postquam terras hereditarias Habsburgicas magna ex parte occupavit, 1485–1490 Vindobonae regnavit. Filius secundus erat Ioannis Hunyadi et Elisabethae Szilágy de Horogszeg. Frater maior Ladislaus vocabatur.
Vita
[recensere | fontem recensere]Postquam Catharina Podiebrad prima uxor, quam anno 1461 in matrimonium duxerat, repente anno 1464 mortua est, Matthias die 22 Decembris 1476 cum Beatrice de Aragona matrimonium iniit. Praeclarissima erat bibliotheca a Matthia creata et iniquitate temporum magna ex parte amissa, quae Bibliotheca Corviniana (aut breviter Corvina) nominatur. Ex plus quam 5000 librorum manuscriptis adhuc 107 in 33 bibliothecis noti sunt.
