Eduardus Sapir
Eduardus Sapir (IPA [səˈpɪər], natus Lauenburgi Prussiae die 26 Ianuarii 1884; mortuus Portu Novo Connecticutae die 4 Februarii 1939) fuit anthropologus et linguista Americanus, qui unus ex eruditis auctoritate gravissimis in progressu disciplinae linguisticae late habetur.[1][2]
Vita
[recensere | fontem recensere]Cum familia in Civitates Foederatas puer migravit. Linguisticae in Universitate Columbiae studuit, ubi maxime a Francisco Boas motus est. Ut linguae vernaculas Americarum investigaret, Californiam migravit, ubi in Universitate Californiensi Berkeleiensi cum Alfredo Kroeber linguas vernaculas perscribebat et annotavit. Quindecim annos pro Geological Survey of Canada laborabat, cum factus est unus e duobus linguistis Americae Septentrionalis maximi momenti, quorum alter erat Leonardus Bloomfield. Professor in Universitate Sicaginiensi creatus est, ubi nonnullos annos commorabatur professionalem disciplinam linguisticam assidue promovens. Ad ultimum, professor anthropologiae in Universitate Yalensi docebat, quamquam cum circumiectis universitatis numquam vero congruebat.
Inter discipulos eius erant linguistae Maria Haas, Morris Swadesh, Beniaminus Lee Whorf, Carolus Hockett, et Harrius Hoijer, atque anthropologi Fridericus Eggan et Hortensia Powdermaker.
Scholasticus universitarius linguarum Latinae, Graecae, Francogallicae primo anno studuit. Anno secundo linguarum Germanicarum studere coepit, praesertim Gothicae, Theodiscae altae antiquae, Saxonicae antiquae, Islandicae, Batavae, Suecicae, et Danicae. Sanscriticam quoque discere coepit, praeter musicam in ordine Eduardi MacDowell, clari compositoris et professoris (quamquam incertum est num Sapir acroases ipsius MacDowell audiret). Notionem phonematis penitus in sua dissertatione exploravit.
Ottavae carmina vulgaria Canadiana Francogallica collegit et edidit, et volumen poesis composuit.
Antequam Canada, migravit, consuetudinam cum Margareta Mead habuit.
