"Their Promise" (二人の約束, Futari no Yakusoku) is the first episode of the Asteroid in Love anime.
Summary[]
Spring. As Konohata Mira enters high school she suffers a huge shock when she finds that the astronomy club she swore to join was gone. When Mira was a young girl she promised a certain person that they'd discover an asteroid, and that became her dream. Yet starting this year the school's astronomy club and geology club have been merged into the earth sciences club. She quickly joins and in the club room she finds three unique older students as well as...
Plot[]
At a camp the young Mira meets Ao and they discuss astronomy, with the two deciding that they will find Ao an asteroid to name after "himself", however they did not meet again after this.
Years later Mira is in high school, she wants to join the Astronomy Club but finds that it is gone, she is informed by Endou that it had actually merged with the Geology Research Society into the Earth Sciences Club and so Mira joins. She is introduced to club members: Morino, Sakurai, Inose and Manaka.
Mira tells her new friends about her promise to a "boy" along time ago to find an asteroid and immediately discovers that Manaka is in fact Ao Manaka, the "boy" she met back at that camp, having mistakenly assumed she was a boy due to her short hair and name. The two had remembered each other throughout the years.
Mira, Ao and Suzu have lunch together the next day at school and catch up. When Mira spills some food on herself and goes to clean it off Ao tells Suzu about how while she appears composed she is actually nervous about talking, due to saying something in the past and being teased.
Ao and Mira talk over the phone that evening about the stars and planets in the sky.
The next day at the first Earth Sciences Club meeting and discuss how the club will be run, their budget, how they should advertise and gain more members and the activities they should run. They decide to run a newsletter and discuss it over hamburgers, with them deciding on Ao's name for it "Sparkle".
That night Mira and Ao talk over phone once more and recall their goal to find an steroid together, glad they met again.
