Ever since I can remember, I have always loved anything I associated with being “southern”. Having grown up in Georgia, I’m a firm believer that being polite trumps manners if it comes at the expense of kindness. If you are cooking for two, you should prepare enough for four. Creating a retreat in your home is greater than retreating on vacation, and “turning into your mother” is an achievement. These days, joggers are my favorite fashion staple and on days I wear leggings, I feel “dressed up” — I still look forward to the rare occasions when I can pull a more tailored look from my closet, though (emphasis on rare 😉 ). From our home and lifestyle to our meals, celebrations and organizational solutions, our casual approach to daily methods can best be described as refined comfort for practical living. In layman’s terms, “simple but with a little ‘fancy’ thrown in for special measure” 😉 ).
Like all of us, I am many things — a devoted wife, proud mama, protective daughter, grateful entrepreneur, and former executive with an appreciation for resourcefulness, creative solutions, and those with a service-based heart. I am a creator, nester, and total homebody and while I enjoy progress, updates and trends, I value nostalgia, consistency and tradition. I think originality is often under-appreciated but that staying true to yourself will ultimately define your character in the eyes of others. I’m curious and I’m a researcher. I have a Type-A personality — fueled by just a smidge of anxiety — and view “to-do lists” as a game of accomplishment. I’m addicted to flowers, casseroles, Trader Joe’s, Eliza’s tiny fashions, and anything that resembles school supplies. My phone storage stays full from taking too many (identical) photos and videos of our sweet baby girl and over the past year, I think I’ve collected every scent of candle from Bath and Body Works’ latest collections. I believe the best work and productivity happens in the early morning hours before the rest of the world is awake, and I thrive on conquering both routine tasks and larger scale projects. I’m a bit impatient and delegation isn’t my strong suit. I love decorating and re-decorating my world, shopping in my home, finding “key purchases”, planning weekly menus, binge-watching all shows (yes, all of them), and savoring the small moments that end up being the greatest memories.
