「まるくなって」

“Curling up”

むなしく　さびしい　そんなとき
からだを　くるんと　まるめて　うずくまる

Sometimes, I feel empty and lonely. And when I do,

I curl up into a ball… and crouch down.

とくん　とくん　なみだつおと
いきている　あかし

The sound of thumping, thumping, is

the real proof that I am alive.

まるくなるのは　しぜんのげんり
みずは　どんなに小さくわかれても
どんなに大きくなろうとも
まるくなろう　とする

Becoming round is a natural process.

No matter how small the water is,

no matter how big it is,

it always tries to become … round.

まるくなるのは
大切なものをまもっているからかな
地球がまるいのも
たくさんのいのちをまもっているからかな

Perhaps it's because

it protects something precious.

Perhaps the Earth is round because

it protects so many lives.

まるくなって　うずくまって
大切なこころ
そっと　まもろう

Curling up,

Let me protect my precious heart

So gently alone.

「D言葉」

“The ‘D’ Words”

不平不満がたまって
毎日毎日　いらいら　ぐちぐち
Ｄ言葉の大連発

Negative feelings and complaints piled up,

day after day, we become irritable and constantly grumble;

we’re easily saying, "D" words over and over again.

だって　( できないでしょ )
でも　　( どうしようもないじゃない )
どうせ　( 私なんて )

“Datte”: Because … (I can't do it.)

“Demo”: But … (there's nothing I can do about it.)

“Dose”: Anyway … (I'm just nothing special.)

Ｄ言葉の出るときはいつもその場で止まっている
ぐるぐる回るばかりで進めない
パソコンのアイコンがぐるぐるまわって
そしてフリーズしてしまうように

Whenever those "D" words come out, we just stay stuck in that place.

We keep going around in circles or can't move forward,

like a computer icon spinning endlessly;

And freeze after all.

ネガティブなＤ言葉を
ポジティブなＤ言葉に変換しよう

Let's transform those negative “D” words into

positive “D” words, shall we?

だったら　( できる )
ですから　( どうにかなる )
どうしても( そうなりたい )

“Dattara”: then … (I can do it.)

“Desukara”: So … (I can make something of it.)

“Doshitemo”: I really want to … (become that way.)

スマホ中毒

Smartphone Addiction

朝から晩までシュッシュッシュ
画面をみつめて指うごかして
メールを打たなきゃ
ＬＩＮＥも読まなきゃ
空いてる時間はゲームして

From morning to night, “Hiss, hiss, hiss.”

Staring at the screen, we move our fingers.

I have to type emails,

also read LINE messages;

and play games in my free time.

食事のときでも
電車のなかでも
お風呂のなかでも
枕もとでも手放せない

I can't let it go,

even during meals,

on the train,

in the bath, or

by my pillow.

メールがきたらすぐに返事を返さなきゃ
ＬＩＮＥも既読のままじゃいけないし
面と向かって言えないことも
ネットだったら言えちゃって
悪口だって噂だって簡単に流せちゃう
天使にもなり悪魔にもなる魔法の道具
使っているはずがいつのまにか使われている

I have to reply to an email immediately when an email, and

I can't leave LINE messages unread.

And things I wouldn't say to someone's face

could be easily said online.

Bad words and rumors can easily spread, too.

It's a magical tool that can turn us into both an angel and a devil.

We're using it, before we know it; becoming its slaves.

あまりにやりすぎて取り上げられたら
目はうつろになり
廃人のようになってしまって禁断症状

When his overdoing it and it was taken away,

his eyes would become vacant,

become like a disabled boy, and only withdrawal symptoms remain.

未成年の子の使い方は
保護者とよく相談して　というけれど
スマホの誘惑は
気がついていたら中毒にしてしまっている

They say that in case of miners’ use,

parents should take care of them, however …

The temptations of smartphones

could make them addictive before we know.

表情を奪い
感情を奪う
人が携帯のアンドロイドになってはいけない

To use smartphones often

rob us of our facial expressions and

rob us of our emotions.

Real humans shouldn't become androids by using them.

スマートフォン依存症やスマホ依存症とは、スマートフォンの使用で様々な問題が起きているにもかかわらず、使用がやめられず、精神的に依存している依存症のこと。スマートフォンの所持者がスマートフォンに依存するようになり、一日の大部分をスマートフォンの使用に費やし、自身がするべきことをすべき時にしないでスマートフォンの使用をするようになることをいう。スマートフォン依存症になった結果、睡眠時間が減少し、ストレスと不安を増やし、うつ病の危険因子となり、下を見続ける姿勢が主なため自身の体調に不都合をきたすようになり、健全な社会生活が送れなくなってしまった者が数多く存在する。歩行中もスマートフォンの使用が止められず歩きスマホをし、事故を起こす人もいる。

Problematic smartphone use is psychological or behavioral dependence on cell phones. It is closely related to other forms of digital media overuse such as social media addiction or internet addiction disorder. Commonly known as "smartphone addiction", the term "problematic smartphone use" was proposed by researchers to describe similar behaviors presenting without evidence of addiction.^[1]

「空をしのぐ花」

“A Flower Surpassing the Sky”

青い空を茜色に染めて
ノウゼンカズラの花が咲く

Surpassing to paint the blue sky crimson,

the flowers of Trumpet Creeper bloom.

木や壁に絡みつきながら蔓はのび
枝や幹から根をだしてへばりつく

The vines grow, entangling themselves around trees and walls, and

the roots grow from the branches and trunks, clinging to the ground.

暑さにはへこたれず
曇り空には弱い
咲かない蕾は涙のようにこぼれる

Not discouraged by the heat, but

vulnerable to cloudy skies. －

The unblooming buds spill like tears.

見事に花を咲かせたら
蝉しぐれも
夕立にも負けない
ファンファーレをふきならし
生きている喜びを
空へたからかに歌う

When the flowers bloom beautifully,

they will not succumb to the hum of cicadas or

a sudden shower. And …

They play a fanfare and

sing about the joy of being alive

proudly toward the sky.

「線と線がむすばれるまえに」

“Before Lines Connect”

水面下でくすぶっていたものが
ある日表面にあらわれて点となる
また驚くような事柄が発生して点となり
線となって結ばれる

What had been smoldering beneath the surface,

One day appears and becomes a point.

Again, surprising events occurring,

They become points－

that connect into lines.

自然の災害
経済の状況
世界の情勢
人々の心理
バラバラなようでつながっている

Natural disasters,

Economic conditions,

Global situations and

People's mental states …

Are interconnected, even although seemingly disconnected.

点と点はむすばれて線となり
線と線がむすばれて面となる
面となってあらわれたときには
誰の目にもあきらかになって

Points connect then form lines,

Lines connect then form surfaces.

When they manifest as surfaces,

Finally, everyone knows what they are …

身動きがとれなくなる

We can no longer move any more.

安心という大きなベールをかぶった危険は
脱いだときに突然襲ってくる

The danger, cloaked in the large veil of reassurance,

Suddenly strikes when it is removed.

歴史を教訓として生かさなければいけない
線と線がむすばれるまえに

We must learn from history as a lesson

Before lines connect.
