Fractures is a complex, intricate and inventive sonic exploration of a world delicately suspended somewhere between scientific knowledge and imagination, rooted in Kayla's lifelong fascination with space and an excitement at the idea of living through great scientific discovery.

Kayla says: “The idea of launching my debut album alongside Europa Clipper feels monumental to me. As my music often follows themes of space, the unknown and consciousness, it feels like the perfect way to present my debut album to the world. My music has often not fitted easily into boxes, and whilst in the past I have seen that as a negative, lately as I have embraced this album, and the people who inspire me (Delia Derbyshire, Autechre, Brian Eno), I have also really harnessed my individual sound and this is a huge celebration of that.”

She continues, about “Fractured in Space”: “This was one of the first tracks that began shaping the album. This track tells the story of the beginning of a voyage into our solar system, it begins mechanically and structurally, with sonic swoops and glistening gliding atmospheres in the background, which I was writing to colour the voyage into space”.
