Background[]
The entire routine takes place on a Just Dance-themed dance floor. The dancers are on a platform made of purple tiles, with the perimeter of the platform having yellow lights. Behind the dancers, there is a screen being held up by two rainbows going through it. Along the rainbow there are light-up yellow stars. The screen is surrounded by an orange wall and has the Just Dance logo on it in red lettering with a yellow outline. The following are also found around the screen: Brezziana’s boombox, Panda’s classic avatar, Hairman’s avatar, the stars from the background of Water Me, the avatar of P3 from Kill This Love, Rudolf’s classic avatar, and a pineapple from the background of Boys (Summertime Love). Additionally, there is a small panel in front of the dancers, which displays various coaches and all of the game covers. Swaggy Carrot can also be seen running in the background occasionally throughout the routine.
The routine begins with the screen displaying the song’s logo, then transitioning to playing gameplays of Girls Just Want to Have Fun, I Like to Move It, and Heart of Glass. The cover of Just Dance is displayed on the panel in front of the coaches.
During the first verse of the song, various coaches are displayed on both the panel and screen.

During the first pre-chorus, the panel displays a cover of Just Dance 2, along with the screen displaying gameplays of Hey Ya!, Move Your Feet, and TiK ToK. Then, the same thing happens but with Just Dance 3 on the panel, and gameplays of I Don’t Feel Like Dancin’, Pump It, and What You Waiting For? appear on the screen. This repeats for Just Dance 4, with Moves Like Jagger, What Makes You Beautiful, and Disturbia being featured. Afterwards, Just Dance 2014 with Where Have You Been, Limbo, and Turn Up the Love; Just Dance 2015 with Birthday, Bang Bang, and The Fox (What Does The Fox Say?); Just Dance 2016 with Let’s Groove, I Gotta Feeling (Classroom Version), and Uptown Funk; and finally, Just Dance 2017 with gameplays of Lean On, Watch Me (Whip/Nae Nae), and Don’t Stop Me Now.
In the first chorus of the song, the screen shows the backgrounds of Calabria 2007 and BOOMBAYAH. An orangish-yellow picture frame appears around the coaches featuring the Just Dance logo in pink text with a white outline, Rudolf’s avatar from Con Calma, Bassa Sababa’s avatar, a pineapple from Boys (Summertime Love), Brezziana’s boombox, and a sticker of Panda from his appearance in Don’t Stop Me Now (Panda Version). During the first refrain, the same stickers from the frame now appear floating around the coaches.

Then, the same thing happens but with Just Dance 2019 on the panel, and gameplays of DDU-DU DDU-DU, Work Work, and Finesse (Remix) appear on the screen. This repeats for Just Dance 2020, with MA ITŪ, Kill This Love, and High Hopes being featured. In the second chorus of the song, the screen shows the backgrounds of Dark Horse, Canned Heat, you should see me in a crown, and Tainted Love. Now, the picture frame that appears around the coaches is themed around Dark Horse and Ancient Egypt, now featuring the Just Dance logo in a yellow-orange gradient text with a thick white outline. Around the frame, a sticker of Discoball, Swaggy Carrot’s avatar, two golden stars, Wanderlust’s Just Dance Now avatar for Swan Lake, an avatar of P2 from OMG, and a sticker of a red Sphinx, and a sticker of Nefertari and her attendees in front of a pyramid. These same stickers appear floating around the coaches during the second refrain of the song.
In the break of the song, the room gets darker and the tiles become a red-color that illuminate yellow to the song’s beat. The lights around the screen dim, and Swaggy Carrot performs a rap while holding an orange microphone on a black stand. Only the rainbow and stars stay luminating. The screen displays a background based off Without Me (Extreme Version), Vodovorot, and Without Me. These three images alternate. The panel is no longer visible.
At the end of the break, a thicker, rectangular orange photo frame appears around the coaches. This time it contains stickers of mushrooms similar to Amanita, P2’s avatar from Sweet Sensation, a yellow duck, two golden stars, and a black-and-white robot from the background of Vodovorot.
During the final chorus of the song, the lights are all illuminated and the screen displays backgrounds from the following routines: Sweet but Psycho, Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.), Sugar, Payphone, and I Am My Own Muse. One last photo frame appears around the coaches, with the Just Dance being in its pink variant. The stickers featured are two pink hearts, Rasputin’s avatar from Sugar, The Bride’s classic avatar, a cupid from Sugar, Panda’s avatar from Daddy Cool, and white roses.
One last photo frame appears at the end of the song, however, this time it is dark cyan rather than orange. The stickers are the same as the previous photo frame, and appear around the coaches again as they dance during the last refrain. Additionally, at the end of the last refrain, the panel reappears with the boxart for Just Dance 2025 Edition, albeit without the logo present.
Following the end of the song, the routine ends with raw footage of the coaches in the Ubisoft Paris studio, only for the camera to turn and reveal the Ubisoft Paris team cheering and applauding, as the team completed the shooting for the song. Swaggy Carrot and the costumes of Jeanne and Sara can be seen in the background. Marie Shirl and Elliot Minguez, the dancers for this routine, join the employees in cheering, and a message stating, "HAPPY 15TH BIRTHDAY JUST DANCE!" is displayed with a rainbow behind it.

- SpongeBob’s Birthday and Sunlight were the fourth and fifth Ubisoft originals to be revealed as part of Just Dance 2025 Edition, after Halloween’s Here, Move Your Body, and Stop This Fire.

- An early version of the song is used in a promotional video.
- In the promotional video for the "Just Dance Legends" playlist, Sunlight was erroneously showcased as part of it, even though it was not included in-game.
Routine[]
- Control Response and Sunlight were the sixth and seventh routines from Just Dance 2025 Edition to return to 舞力无限, after Stop This Fire, The Lion Sleeps Tonight (Wimoweh), Halloween’s Here, Move Your Body, and SpongeBob’s Birthday.
- They were also the ninth and tenth routines to be released in the service after the discontinuation of weekly updates and outside of a season or game bundle, after Always Look On The Bright Side Of Life, Darkest Hour, Lump, and the aforementioned.
- The coaches’ names are tributes to Just Dance YouTubers and community members Just Ash and ArianaKatana.[6][7]
- The following anomalies can be noticed in the preview gameplays displayed on the screen in the background:
- All of them have four players instead of six.
- Those from Just Dance to Just Dance 2016 reuse the HUD from Just Dance 2017 via the Just Dance Unlimited service.
- That for I Don’t Feel Like Dancin’ reuses its unused pictograms from the old Just Dance Now servers instead of the remade ones from Just Dance Unlimited.
- That for Pump It reuses the original pictograms instead of the remade ones from Just Dance Unlimited.
- Those for Can’t Stop the Feeling!, Witch, and Telephone reuse the HUD from Just Dance 2022, also via the Just Dance Unlimited service.
- Those for Gimme More, Can’t Tame Her, and A Queda, have no HUD at all.
- In an early version of the map, Marguerite appeared after the first chorus, Swaggy Carrot had a mirrored version of the extraction and the outro lasted longer than the video file for the routine, causing it to freeze after a few seconds.
- On an unknown date, the video file was updated to no longer feature Marguerite, to mirror Swaggy Carrot’s appearance, and to shorten the outro.
