But, It is. All the sprites are also small, like the box is 5x5. I think the mule is 8x16. Godot has a setting for each image where you can turn off filtering of the images, otherwise it would've looked really blurry. Do not besmirch my low rez mule! ;)
Not sure if that is breaking a rule? If so, I guess it might be too late to change it now.
Awesome title music and overall, great work on the art and gameplay! Anything I would've mentioned I think the other comments have already taken care of, however I do want to echo my issue with the controls. If I could aim with the mouse and move with WASD, then I would enjoy it a lot more. Excellent work though!
I absolutely love it! Simple but strong mechanics. Even when multiple characters are introduced or exits are moving, you get what you have to do. You did a lot with the animation! Even though the main character and the the rest a just big blocky things, you made them come to life!
But I have to agree with another users comment that this is all about the level design. You only have a handful of sprites in here but it's fun because you found new ways to keep using them.
Oh and the music is just superb. Nice work!
I think you all did a good job on the visuals and the feeling of anticipation is quite something! (especially when you're waiting to see if you got the drop on your enemy or not) However, I wish there was just a bit more to the game than hitting one button at a point in time. I'm seeing maybe using Z, X and C on the keyboard and you have to hit them in a certain order before the enemy does? Other than that, nice work!
It took a couple rounds to understand what was going on but once I did, it really flows well! The only thing I might suggest is slowing the gameplay down just a tad, I think the attacking, swapping and capturing stuff happens just a tad too fast. It's probably just muscle memory, trying to remember which element monster to bring out to attack in the right situation was hard for me to gel with. Love the look and style though, nice work!

Wow, nice job on this! the mechanics and everything are a ton of fun and you can never go wrong when your main character is a cat 😉
The only real issue I had is that the kitty death sound gets pretty annoying after a while. I played through the whole thing but a couple of the later levels I did die quite a few times and had to hear that sound a lot and it's not pleasant.
I'll say up front, I am not usually a visual novel kind of gamer. That said, I really like what you've done with the world, it feels like a unique place! Also, I know that we only had 2 weeks for the jam, but there just wasn't enough on screen to really keep me super interested. I would've really liked to see what the other characters looked like and some more environments. Nice work on what you were able to do in 2 weeks though, I'm sure it was a lot of work!
This was a ton of fun! I'm a big fan of the Portal series so this is right down my alley! Are you planning to expand the game? The only real critique I have is I think you should rename it to "FIND THE AXE" 😉
But honestly, the best i can come up with is I would love to see some kind of interesting story attached to this like they did with Portal. Nice work!
I really like the aesthetic and throwback sound design in the game. I'm also a huge fan of Celeste and platformers in general, so the mechanics are right down my alley. However, the keyboard control layout kills this for me unfortunately. I could only make it to level 3 or so before I had to start skipping around.
For some reason, my brain just doesn't gel with the controls, maybe I just need a controller?
