I would suggest that lack of a player voice allows the game to better blur the line between the player and the character, allowing for more of a "you are here" feel.Hearing a voice speak that's not your own could emphasize that you're merely a spectator.

The four or five DAZ Premier exclusive tools are basically "shortcut" type tools -- they speed up certain processes, but they don't offer functionality a DAZ free user couldn't work around without them. The new tools are arguably faster, or more convenient, within certain specific contexts, but they don't prevent non-Premier users from doing their rendering work. I think this is simply another example of DAZ chasing quick-money trends (remember the DAZ NFTs?) rather than focusing on bettering their core program for all users. Cheers!
Have a great birthday! Again, getting older feels weird, but in almost every case, the alternative is worse! :-) And hey, I had to have a colonoscopy once, and I was so frickin' high from the meds they gave me, they could've danced on me, and I would've laughed. So, don't worry. Just make sure they've got the good stuff! Be well!
If it helps, most of us deal with some level of impostor syndrome in our lives, partly because most people present a very edited, curated version of themselves to the public, if only as a form of self-protection and/or a means of maintaining necessary boundaries between private priorities and the public world. As for those big VN teams, maybe remember *why* you're making Mythos -- the first priority of all art is to please the self in some way. If others like it too, that's a bonus, but it started from you, for you. And hey, I see all the pro- and semi-pro VN teams out there, but I paid to read Mythos, not all of their stuff, so that says something about your work, yes? You're telling stories, while a lot of what's out there is just a pr0n show that can't even make the sexytimes content mean something beyond generic body parts in collision stuff. You're doing better than you can see right now. Stay the course. You're mythic, after all. :-)
Thanks for the update. Sorry to hear about the hinky bits. As for any fear of "oversharing", I don't think that's an issue here. You clearly flag the game-related, versus the personal-life, post contents. It's not like you're *requiring* people to read either. It's always the readers' choice. Be well!
Gastro-intestinal problems are hard to endure. Don't be afraid to ask to be referred to a specialist, or otherwise seek a second opinion, if possible. At the very least, tell your relevant MD "Hey, whatever you're doing is not working well enough. I need you to step things up, please." Doctors get inundated with various health crises every day, and can lose sight of variances after they've made an initial diagnosis. A good doctor will actually be glad that you've said something if a treatment isn't working as planned. Best to you and yours!
Thank *you* for releasing such excellent tools, so easily understood.
You were also extremely patient with me, and helpful to me, when I posted my n00b questions on the ren'py Discord under a different alias.
Your kindness and patience were the reasons why I remembered and recognized your alias here on itch, and how I knew buying your ren'py tools would be a help to me.
Thank you, and be very well!
A mixed bag of events, indeed. Wishing you and Morgana the best. As for the character Astarion? When I finally, randomly met him in Baldur's Gate 3, my allies and I were fairly levelled up. He threatened me, and he threatened them, right off the jump -- so I ended him right there. Sure, sure his "special condition" may grant him a return to the story, but I'd put him down again for free. Maybe don't tell Morgi? :-) Wishing you both better days!
Many of your tools have been very useful to me, and I've been happy to buy them. As for perfectionism, I am reminded of the warning "Don't let the perfect become the enemy of the good". But you've been releasing tools, so I expect your perfectionism and your practicality are at least on speaking terms. :-) Best to you and yours. Be well!
Ah, I think I understand now. I was merely offering a possibly entertaining "brain vacation", but if it might make you pressure yourself regarding your own creation, I'd say skip it. As for technique -- including the sexytimes stuff -- I'd say yours serve your story very well, and you have nothing to fret about. For me, the best sexytimes content is actually also character content and relationship content. As in life, people will often reveal details of themselves, and their feelings for the other person, in intimate times that they might feel too self-conscious to speak of in other less "we're both literally and personally naked here together" moments (e.g look at Tammy in "Come Home". Hard as diamond, and very sexual, but she'll say I love you to the MC freely in the quiet, close moments). Because of this, I sometimes wish the Mythos intimate sequences were a bit longer to allow for a bit more obvious rapport and affection, but I *do* realize that you're writing a murder mystery here, so too much honest character revelation works against that. Okay, this post is officially far too long. Shutting up now. Best to you and yours. Be well!
Glad all is at least nominally well where you are. And yes, I'd wager your stepfather will be surprised, if not outright shocked, by how much better he feels once he has his knees attended to ... I have a relative who is effectively allergic to sutures who has a similarly bad knee, and they know (having a medical background) what they could have otherwise in terms of pain relief. The sooner someone can cajole, convince, or (kindly) coerce your step into taking the jump into getting things fixed, the better he can feel, I suspect. But everyone must make their own decisions, I know. Best to you and yours. Be well!
Wow that's a lot of questions this week, Nine! Some interesting answers too. You mentioned that while you like some VNs, many can feel like "homework" to read. May I suggest "Trouble At Home"? It's very different from your Mythos, so it might seem like a "vacation"? The story starts out a bit shaky, and might seem "standard", but the author quickly finds their tempo and it rapidly becomes more than it initially appears. Just an option. Best to you and M. Be well!
Interesting second survey! Regarding the future of the saga, I chose mostly those options which I felt preserved my sense of choice/agency while moving through the story. No problem with various forms of consensual love and passion being offered to players, so long as what's being offered is offered honestly, with no "surprise! haha!" gotcha-style framing. I like Mythos as a VN, *but* if you need your story to exist in a different format (a novel? a grapic novel?) to serve it best, and be happiest, then do that. You're doing the lion's share of the work here, and we only live once, as far as we know, so plan to make your art what *you* need it to be. Cheers!
Weird factoids and vocabulary helped me remember how to spell February correctly. The ancient Romans (who assembled the calendar we use) thought that fevers were more common in the month in question, and named it for such. An older word for feverish, or full of fever, is thus "feBRile" (rhymes with "textile", sorta). Febrile helps me remember how February is spelled. May it assist you too! Best.
Doing the voices aloud is a solid technique, recommended for checking the viability of dialogue. Things convey differently when said aloud, and some writers don't realize this. As Harrison Ford famously snarked on the set of the original Star Wars: "You can write this shit, but you can't say it." :-) Cheers!
Hope you are feeling better, Radondy. Take care of yourself first. People get games for *free* on itch, and Patreon is *voluntary*, so don't let anyone pressure you. As the old saying goes "You can't pour water from an empty jug", so take care of you, and the creative stuff will get easier once you start feeling better. I wish you strength, and happier days going forward.
