Evil demo (2.1.13) isn't compatible with the SoundBlaster 1.x/2.0 (no sound); SB Pro and later are fine.  You may want to check/test this using DOSBox (0.74.3/SVN/Staging/X) w/SBtype = 1 or 2...

Great game that pays homage to both specific DOS games and the era in general.

However, there are a few issues with the DOS shareware version.

You may want to include a README for the DOS version including basic sysreqs etc.

The game is apparently failing to create \CATS\STEAM\A.TXT upon loading - you may want to remove this.

The game errors out (almost always) during the opening title sequence when attempting to play a digital sample when used with a SoundBlaster 1.x/2.0 (sbtype = sb1/sb2), at least in all current DOSBox versions/distros (74-3, SVN, Staging, X) ; SoundBlaster Pro and newer have no issues (sbtype = sbpro1/ sbpro2/sb16).

Unfortunately your SoundBlaster compatibility isn't since the SBMIDI.EXE driver/player isn't compatible with the SoundBlaster 1.0, 1.5, or 2.0 (it only works with SoundBlaster Pro and later).  You may either want to find/make a SBMIDI.EXE that works with the original SoundBlaster 1.x/2.0, or change your stated sysreqs.

The DOS Demo both new version (1.1.0.5/WDOSX097) and old (1.0.0.5/CWSDPMI) hangs (almost always with video corruption) and/or exits DOSBox (74/74-3), DOSBox SVN (4483), DOSBox Staging (0.81.1), and DOSBox-X (2024.03.01) when DOSBox is configured for SoundBlaster 2.0 (sbtype = sb2) when the location is selected (or prior) - all other sbtypes play without issue.

Don't know if it behaves the same on a real SB2.0 (don't currently have a SB2.0 configured PC), so this may/may not be a DOSBox SB emulation code bug, but considering many/most folks will likely try this (first) with DOSBox they may run into this...
