Hey guys, hope you are all doing good! After 11 months and 1 day of development, I can finally say that I've completed my first video game project and I'm ready to share it with the world! I started work in September of 2021 and have encountered all sorts of challenges, from spending weeks in Unity trying to fix game-breaking bugs to temporarily halting development to work on a fundraiser for Ukraine, it was a pretty challenging and wild ride but all my hard work has paid off. Working on this game taught me a lot of valuable lessons in game design, experience I'll use to make my next projects better. I'm so glad to finally share this game with everyone and I hope y'all enjoy it! Thanks you, and have a wonderful day!
I want to personally thank everyone who has donated to the "Chess For Ukraine" fundraiser, your support means everything to me! Today, April 7th, all of the accumulated proceeds has been donated to the GlobalGiving "Ukraine Crisis Relief Fund". Funds will be used to supply Ukrainian refugees with food, clean water and shelter along with aiding education and economic assistance programs. The extra money will mean a lot to a lot of people out there! The game has accumulated a total of $351 through sales alone, which is just staggering to think about. I added my own share to the total donation amount, resulting in a total of $500 donated through GlobalGiving. Below is screenshot proof of the game's figures and the donation receipt. If you want to continue donating to the GlobalGiving relief fund, please use the link below to visit the site's homepage and make your contribution: https://www.globalgiving.org/projects/ukraine-crisis-relief-fund/
The game is now set to free for anyone to enjoy! I want to thank y'all one last time for all of the support. I never thought I would release my first video game at age 19, nor did I think it would be a fundraiser to help support a cause greater than myself. It's hard to truly encapsulate my feelings, I'm just so thankful we were able to make an impact where it really mattered. I hope everyone has a wonderful day, and thank you for playing my game :)
I've finally developed a version of Chess for Ukraine that works on Android devices! I've constantly play tested on my own Android phone to ensure the port works and plays as good as the PC counterpart, and I'm here to report that everything is working smoothly! Please let me know if anyone has any concerns or are currently facing any issues with their Android versions of the game, I would love to hear feedback!
I will donate my first week's earning on March 17th, with posts that will show how the game's income and the donation receipt. This donation will go to the Ukraine Crisis Relief Fund available on GlobalGiving, the same relief fund all proceeds will be going to on April 15th. Since I won't be able to access my first week earnings (I need to wait a full week before requesting them on Itch.io), all money donated will be my own. I want to do this to not only get funds to people who are suffering now, but also to ease any concerns about the legitimacy of this fundraiser. Please let me know what you think and please continue the support for the Ukrainian people!
I hope you're having a good day! I've published a simple chess game with the goal of raising support for the people escaping the war in Ukraine. Between March 10th and April 7th, all proceeds will be donated weekly to the Global Giving Ukraine Crisis Relief Fund, which has already raised $10,300,000 at the time of me writing this. I will post screenshots of my game's income and the donation receipt every Thursday both on here and on my twitter account at: https://twitter.com/CamdenCook65. If you are interested in publishing to the GlobalGiving fund directly, please visit their homepage at: https://www.globalgiving.org/projects/ukraine-crisis-relief-fund/donate/. I designed the game reflect Ukrainian culture, with each chess piece representing a different aspect of the nation's rich history and traditions. The minimum donation amount is $5, but $10 is recommended. This is my first published game and my first fundraiser, so please let me know if you are facing any difficulties or issues trying to access the game. Please help support our allies in Ukraine!

While I've been a hobbyist game developer for a 4 years now, this is my first commercial release as well as being my first fundraiser. As such, there might be some problems that will arise. Whether it's a game build not opening properly or some error within the project itself, I want everyone to inform me of any problems they may be facing with this project. I'll try my best to address all major concerns and update the project accordingly. I'll greatly appreciate any feedback I get on this project!
Purchasing this little chess game will help support those who are suffering from the Russian Invasion of Ukraine. All proceeds will be donated on April 15th to the Global Giving Ukrainian Crisis Relief Fund, which has already collected $10,300,000 in donations at the time of me typing this. I will post a screenshot of my game's income and my donation receipt when I make my donation, both here and on my Twitter account at https://twitter.com/CamdenCook65. This project will run from March 10th to April 7th, after which the game will be set to free for everyone to enjoy. The reason I'm waiting until April 15th to send the donations is because of Itch.io's method of payment. After a purchase is made, I need to wait a week before I can access the money given. I'm giving an extra day to ensure all of the funds are accounted for. Please stay tune to see how much money is earned to help the people of Ukraine! The minimum donation amount is $5, but $10 is recommended. Thank you for your support of the Ukrainian people, every little bit counts! Please let me know if you have an questions, concerns or issues regarding the game and the donations!
