this is a fun little game about making games!  pretty good overall, but i did find quite a few bugs.
i chose platformer first.  the controls are a little wonky , but it's playable.  not sure if this is intended or a bug-- if you press jump and attack at the same time, you get a huge jump and can basically fly around.  it seemed like this was not intended to happen even though it was kind of fun.  maybe just leave it in! lol.  i found all 3 keys, but it kept telling me there were more.  i replayed a few times and it never worked for me.
i played the RPG next and got stuck after i went through the trees to join the blob by the lake.  when i press the button to go back through the trees, it just puts me on the lake side.  sadly, i guess i won't see either ending. :(

I checked the code. click the trees below that spot and you should be able to leave. I’ve also made it so you should be able to leave clicking the spot to the right. I’m currently rebuilding code for the platformer to try and resolve it. (it needed me to delete and reenter some variables) I do not think I can fix the flying via jump-shooting but that’s intensely entertaining that that happened.

oh.  i didn't think you need to click anything.  i wouldn't expect a Game Boy game to have mouse controls.

Developer(+1)

By click i mean interact with it. You had to face down and press a. I added an extra bit to get out when facing right as well.

Sorry I uploaded it while very busy.

ah.  okay, i'll have to try it again!

Good game! I enjoyed the idea of creating a game within the game, congratulations on applying this concept!

Two game makers in one! Wow!

Appreciate the save functionality. I played the platformer (witch, night) on physical before, and it was fun to hop right back into the game I had made before.

I found three keys.. How many total keys are there?? Two on the bottom floor and one on the top?

Developer

There are three keys. Is it not allowing you to progress?

Dang.. I tried it again, this time with Witch, Simple, No Sound, Blobs, and still can't progress. Got the two keys in the bottom row and the one at the top before the end.

Developer

I’ve been trying to replicate it. I got it to occur a few times. from what I can tell it sometimes works and sometimes just won’t. I’m not sure of the cause yet but I might have to partially rebuild the platformers. I think it’s not clearing the variables correctly.

Ugh variables can be so annoying in GB Studio sometimes!

If the keys are incrementing a variable, maybe consider a boolean for each key instead?

Developer

Whats funny is each key has its own variable. I think its not resetting them after deaths.

Might be it

How did you like RPG part?

Fun idea! The RPG was surprisingly deep!

DeveloperSubmitted

I worked quite a bit on it, thanks for the feedback!

It was fun that you could play different personalized games! I always chose the witch anyway lol. The platforms were too hard, it seems it needs a jump with different heights depending on how much you press the butto, so it's a bit easier to control.

Developer

The system I use doesn’t allow for too much customization for the jumps at this time. I will note that it does have some height variant to the jump depending on how long you hold it but it’s still hard to really notice. I find holding it all the way until I start floating downward is the only way to guarantee max height. I am still trying to find a way to tweak the platformers to be more friendly. (I’m terrible at them and somehow managed to beat each level after some practice.) and I have a few ideas for how to make the hit boxes more forgiving but I can’t implement those till after the jam.

Really fun one ! (but the final result are harsh to finish)

Developer

The platformers are unforgiving and Ive been trying to find a nicer way to do them.

most jammers struggle to make a single game, and yall made a game that makes games !! super cool idea, especially for a jam setting :•D

Nice concept, it great to have several games in one. Graphics and gameplay are great, the simple music is nice too :) Some sound effects are sometimes kinda violent for my ears but I'm still alive so I guess that wasn't much of a problem ^^

But nice game, with a good idea :)

Developer

Sorry about the music. We couldn’t get a composer.

The simple music was fine ^^ Just some sound effect that surprised me, but it was nice overall ;)
