Fun! had some issues with food selection. Music is great.
thank you! as far as i know, this was our musician's first attempt at making music! i am seriously impressed with what they came up with.
great fast-food palette! and fun game, aside from the brutal speed with which i sort through my sling-able foods. i rarely landed on the right one, but it made my roleplay as a thoughtless terrible teenage snack attendant all the more immersive. thanks!
lol i'm glad you still enjoyed it despite the challenge! thanks for playing!!!
Graphics are incredible and simple but effective & fun game mechanics.
One small thing: at first I couldn't figure out what I was doing wrong, because on the game page it says "Then press C to slug your selection across to them!" Then I noticed above it says 'X' to serve food.
doh! thanks for catching that typo. sorry it gave you problems playing the game. thanks for playing!!!
I love the idea and the graphics! I was having some control issues when trying to navigate the food selection, so sometimes I didn't have enough time to get the right food, but it was fun anyway.
yeah, sorry i know that is frustrating! i fixed that issue and will be posting an updated version some time next week once voting is over. thanks for playing!
I like this, vaguely makes me think of a leaner Diner Dash. The art in this is amazing, the palette choice is incredibly unique and just plain works well. Would love to see more of this!
thank you so much!!!
Thank you! Diner Dash ended up being a bit of an accidental influence, the idea was hatched with Tapper in mind but with the more free movement it ended up feeling like both.
Superb graphics, but just too stressful haha
I would expect that if I am ready on their row they would wait a bit to get served :)
thank you! that is a good point. i might see if i can make that happen for the update i'm working on. :)
This was a lot of fun even though I thought I wanted a more chill game right now, haha! :D Also really like the pixel art!
thank you so much!!! glad you enjoyed it. i agree BunBytes did a wonderful job with the pixels!
A really pretty game with an unusual palette. I enjoyed the unique stadium members and the information was conveyed nicely on the screen. Sometimes the people would ask for things and their speech bubble would overflow the screen however.
Was this one made in GBStudio?
Thank you for the feedback and kind words! The palette was initially inspired by the red and yellow contrast of a lot of stadium food. Meat and bread, ketchup and mustard, the design on a cola or beer can, etc. Once we settled on a warm green and subtle dark blue for the last two, leaving us with a full RGBY primary color range, it started to resemble a box of abandoned, aged LEGO to me which I kind of leaned into in the audience's designs
As for the engine Timconceivable put this together in GameMaker Studio! From what I was hearing in the Discord GBStudio has a pretty unforgiving limit on how many sprites are allowed onscreen which would have made it very challenging to get the number of people we wanted.
since you can still see the food order, i figured the speech bubbles going slightly offscreen on the left side wasn't something to worry about it for the jam. i had other more pressing issues to fix. hopefully it was still playable for you! i'm working on a post-jam update, and will center the bubbles over the people to fix that issue. thanks for the feedback!
Yes! Very playable. Did the game have an ending? What was meant to appear at the top of the stadium? I just had a black screen with a hand.
good to hear! thank you. the original plan was to have a kitchen area where you restock your food box. i couldn't get the array completely working to transfer what's in the box in the kitchen to the stands and vice versa. not sure what i wasn't doing correctly, but i spent several days on it to no avail. i was lazy and just left that area in there (just took out the background). maybe at some point down the road i'll try to get that working. didn't have time to get levels or an end screen either because i spent too much time messing with that feature. i'm in the process of adding that though to make a more complete game even though the jam is over.
I think the stands could've been shorter and more compact to make it less about travel up and down, and the controls a bit tighter. Sometimes they felt laggy for picking new foods. I'm not sure how the kitchen would work with the pacing of the game, but I'd be interested to find out!
Fun! I think it would be good if there was a penalty for throwing the wrong snack... or maybe I just want to throw hot dogs at unwilling people.
lol yes! that actually occurred to me, but i ran out of time and wasn't able to add more things into the game because i spent several days on a feature that i couldn't get working. thanks for playing!
The throwing aspect added so much to this and I have to thank Tim for having that thought. It's just such a fun cartoonish action to do and really helps tie the game back to its roots as a Tapper-like.
This was a hoot! I like running from row to row in a hetctic manner chucking snacks at people! My only problem is that I can’t seem to cycle through the snacks immediately after I press C, I have to wait a bit before I can.
yeah, that's an annoying little bug that i couldn't figure out the fix for. sorry about that. thanks for playing!
