How does your game fit the theme?
The game idea was an unit management game with scaling difficulty. The hunger of the "Gooper" (Game Timer) scales while eating. While progressing the difficulty scales because you have more units to manage and less time to satisfy the Gooper.

Neat work on the game! It seems people have already brought up the improvements I was thinking so it seems it'll just be a matter of time after the jam that the game will be even better! But awesome game for the time limit that you adhered to! :) Keep up the good work amigo!

Really fun, creative take on the theme! I am forever beholden to the Gooper

Nice game, but my wrist hurt, I give up. I like that idea is very simple, there are no complex mechanics, however the gameplay gradually turns into fun chaos. Easy to pick up - hard to master. And I didn't finish the game, that beefy fence is too much. Visuals are cute and work very well, together with highlights and progress bar it provides solid looks of a well thought game. If not for difficulty of completion, I would loved this game! Great job!

I love the art style and it is extremely impressive that this was all pulled together by only one person! The only part I had some trouble with was in the selection of the units as it seems their hitboxes are quite small. This is really a tiny tweak in the grand scheme of things I really loved playing your game!

Developer

Thanks for the positive words!

The art style was some kind of trial and error, but i'm happy that so many people liked it :)

A bit repetitive for the gameplay and the music but not bad for a first game ♥

As feedback, I think you should really add tons of SFX :)

Developer

Thanks for the feedback!

Good idea :) sound effects would add some juice.

Enjoyed the idea of it, and it has future potential! I could see even more types of tasks being used to expand the types of mechanics the player interacts with.

Developer

Thank you for your feedback :)

Do you have any specific ideas for tasks that could be fun?

A common one might be defending the Gooper from enemies, or maybe introducing some building mechanics? Like building an auto-miner that can automatically mine over time, but requires one or more units to spend a longer amount of time to build?

A really beautiful game with an interesting twist. If you develop this game further i'd suggest to move the interact button on the left mouse click. Great Game!

Best of luck

Developer

Thank you for the feedback :)

I wanted to implement custom control settings, but ran out of time. I will consider moving the default.

Interesting game. Unfortunately the full-screen button didn't work for me which make clicking on the units hard and led to a lot of frustration. After dying the first go around and getting overwhelmed by the amount of units I had scaled to, I found that the optimum strategy was to not scale and only have one or two units feeding him while the other worked on the fence. This strategy worked very well, but it felt bad to retrict myself from scaling more units and the final fence had too much HP so I just stopped playing. I liked the art and concept, both reminded me a bit of the game (the) Gnorp Apologue. I think the game needed a mechanic to help manage the multiple units better. The extra food helped not dying, but  because you still need to mine to deal damage to the final fence I did not want to control all the little minions that the big food would have allowed me to create. One more small thing is that I am used to the convention of Pause being the space bar for games like these as P and ESC are sort of out of the way on the keyboard but that one is more arbitrary preference.

Developer

Sorry to hear that the full-screen button didn't work for you. No idea what could be wrong with the html5 export.

The final fence can be dealt with the special "Toni"-Unit, which you get after you reach the 800 milestone.

Thank you for playing despite of the problem and for the detailed feedback :)

I ended up playing this game for way longer than I probably should have. Entertaining gameplay, however the beating it seems like it would take an eternity (unless im missing something). Really fun game great job!

Developer

For beating the game, you get the "Toni" Unit at the 800 hunger milestone. Toni deals 100x damage to the fence, and the high hp at the end was to prevent people from only playing with max 2-3 units.

Like the style and idea! Sometimes unit selection is hard to preform but overall great

Developer

Thanks for your message :)

Glad you liked the idea! I had a hard time finding something i like with the theme

Great game, sometimes i can't click on the little guys but it seems to work most of the time. Keep up the good work :)

Thanks for the feedback :)

Next time i will focus on easier controls :D

Good simple game. As others already said, clicking on those little fellas was really hard sometimes. But I had fun.

Thanks for the feedback :)

I enjoyed this a lot :) I got a bit frustrated selecting the little people it felt like there was just a tiny hit area and the controls felt a little backwards but nothing gamebreaking :) The colour scheme, sprites and music were all beautiful and the whole thing fit well with the theme :)

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the kind words :)

Oddly relaxing, found myself playing it for a lot longer than i thought it would be!

Great artwork, enjoyed the soundtrack too. Sometimes a little hard to click on the fellas but other than that i enjoyed it. Decent!

Had a lot of fun controlling the little guys! Great game!

Developer

Glad you liked it :)

Really fun concept. Took a minute to get used to the controls, but I had fun. I like the artwork too!

Developer

Thank you for the feedback!

Glad you had fun playing :)

i feel the controls were rather wonky. my immediate instinct is that left click controls both selection and action, but they're on separate mouse buttons.

otherwise, love the style, and the music was fun too

Developer

Thank you for the feedback!

The separate buttons for selection and action felt kinda natural for me, but i will reconsider the controls.

I first though of warcraft 3 as a reference point for the controls, but had to remove boxselecting and commanding of multiple units, 'cause i felt it makes the game to easy.

Submitted

Liked the idea and the art. But the controls didn't work so well for me. Nice game!

Developer

Thank you for the feedback!

I will reconsider the controls.

I like the gameplay idea, great job on the art too! I actually pressed this submission cause I’m familiar with the palette :D

The SLSO8 color palette was truly enjoyable to work with :)
