Cotsen affiliates share research at annual AIA Meeting


Faculty and staff from the Cotsen Institute of Archaeology shared their research and expertise at the 2024 Annual Meeting of the Archaeological Institute of America in Chicago from January 4-7. 

 

Sarah Beckmannassistant professor of classics and core faculty at Cotsen Institute gave the paper “Squatters” at Late Roman Villas: Rethinking the Evidence for Occupation, Third – Sixth centuries CE


Deidre Brin, director of the Digital Archaeology Lab and Data Publications, was a panelist in the workshop Archaeological Digital Scholarship: Impact and Inquiry. The panel and participants discussed how to ensure that digital research receives scholarly credit, building from the AIA Guidelines for the Evaluation of Digital Technology and Scholarship in Archaeology


John K. Papadopoulos, professor of classics and core faculty at Cotsen Institute, was a discussant in the colloquium 3D: Restoration, Conservation and Enhancement of Archaeological Sites and Monuments in Greece in the Framework of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development goals.


Lyssa Stapleton, project and policy analyst for the Waystation Initiative and the certificate program, led a round table discussion on Developing Standards for Provenance Research and the Voluntary Return of Cultural Objects.
