The RSMA Trust is a registered charity (registered charity no. 1015809) and has a number of activities aimed to give financial support to students, to encourage student learning and to promote the Royal School of Mines.
Loans and grants
Loans and grants are available from a discretionary fund to assist undergraduate and postgraduate students in financial difficulties. The speed at which a decision is reached on an application is an attractive feature of the discretionary fund.
Annual essay competition
The annual competition is for the best essay under 2000 words which relates to environmental issues with any earth science, earth engineering or materials subject taught in the Faculty of Engineering. The competition is open to all students in the Faculty.
The essay must be the original work of the student and can be on any topic of his/her choosing, providing that it makes the link with the environment referred to above. The author may include illustrations, and work prepared as part of a student's course is acceptable. The Association and the Trust prefer that entries have not been published previously, but do not preclude entries that are in preparation for publication.
The winner will receive a cheque for £200 and a miniature miners lamp.
Entries should be submitted by email to Philip Power ([email protected]) by 15 May 2021. Entries should include the full name, address and course/year of the author.
Peter Harding Memorial Prize
The Peter Harding Memorial Prize is awarded for outstanding service to the RSM. The recipient receives an engraved Silver Medal and cheque at the Annual Dinner.
