I’m writing to let you know that we will end our investment in Unity8, the phone and convergence shell. We will shift our default Ubuntu desktop back to GNOME for Ubuntu 18.04 LTS.

I'm very curious in how far Ubuntu will stick to the vanilla GNOME. Good news anyway.
I'm curious too. As I've stuck with the old Gnome / MATE style desktop for some time. - I'm sure there are many fans of Unity that will keep it going. - Curious to see Canonical change directions again.
