The worst thing about this is Zawe Ashton just doing absolutely nothing with the Dar-Benn character and ending up as just another forgettable villian. Reminded me of Lee Pace's stint as Ronan the accuser. Just bland, zero personality. I would also call out just how rapid fire the pacing and editing is. It can get a little messy and you never really get any quiet moments or levity. Its just go go go all the way to the finish line.
On the plus side I enjoyed basically everything else. The chemistry works wonders with the 3 leads and you get a lot of interesting dynamics with ideas of meeting your idols and family abandonment. It super goofy and takes some big swings that I'm sure people will either vibe with hard or absolutely roll their eyes at. Personally I'm down with them trying more weird shit. I also was expecting the movie to generally look like shit after how disgusting those new thor and antman movies looked but was genuinely surprised by how pleasant most of it was to look at.
This wont work for everyone, 2 of your leads are pulled directly out of tv shows and they don't do any real catch up for the uninitiated. But then selfishly that didn't bother me at all.
Anyway, A lot of hyperbole going on around this movie. A real circle jerk of hate leading up to release. Some people really want to see this whole mcu thing burned to the ground. Its all very fascinating. Personally this was a pleasant suprise in the wake of things like Love and Thunder, Quantumania and Secret Invasion.
